On Thursday 5th October 2017, Hispanic Studies in the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures had the pleasure of hosting Paddy Woodworth, a well respected author, expert on Spain, journalist and environmentalist, who is also an adjunct Senior Lecturer in Hispanic Studies. Paddy spoke on the current Catalan crisis and the historical and social roots of this situation in a lecture entitled ‘The Spanish-Catalan Crisis: Why Spain is Sliding Towards Civil Conflict’. The lecture was part of a core first-year module in Hispanic Studies, SPAN10130: Hispanic Cultures and Societies and was very well attended by staff and students from within the School.
