I am an Italianist and cultural historian, specializing in the history, culture and literature of late 19th and early 20th century Italy. My primary areas of research are in Italian Futurism (1909-1944) and the cultural history of the First World War, particularly in Italy. I also conduct research in the areas of European avant-garde movements, Italian modernism, digital humanities, post-Unification Italian literature (1860-1900), and translation studies.
I have published numerous journal articles and book chapters on my research. My monograph, Italian Futurism and the First World War, was published by University of Toronto Press in 2016.
I have delivered invited presentations on my research at University of California, Los Angeles (keynote lecture); University of Oxford, California State University, Long Beach, University of Edinburgh, and Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento. I have delivered invited public talks on my work at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art in London and at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin.
