Workshop: diplomAT – Austrian Foreign Affairs. From the Viennese Congress to the Presidency of the EU-Council in 2018

The highly interactive workshop “diplomAT – Austrian Foreign Affairs. From the Viennese Congress to the Presidency of the EU-Council in 2018″ took place on 22nd and 23rd November 2018 at University College Dublin.

On July 1, 2018, Austria took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the third time. This workshop explored the significance of the Viennese Congress (1814-15), the disintegration of the Austrian Empire in 1918, the Second Austrian Republic and Austria’s membership in the EU.

Invited speakers included the Ambassador of Austria to the Republic of Ireland Dr. Freudenschuss, Ass.-Prof. in German Studies Dr. Ruthner (Trinity College Dublin)Emeritus Lecturer in German Studies Dr. Herzmann (UCD), Austrian Lecturer Anneliese Rieger, MA and Austrian Lecturer Lisa Winter, MA.
